In practical applications, AGM and lithium-ion batteries each offer advantages, suiting different scenarios and budgets. In terms of energy density, lithium-ion batteries offer higher specific energy output, typically reaching 150–265 Wh/kg, significantly higher than the 30–50 Wh/kg of AGM batteries. This means that for the same volume or weight, lithium-ion batteries can provide longer battery life or greater load capacity, making them particularly suitable for devices with compact space or high battery life requirements.
 
From a cycle life and economic perspective, lithium-ion batteries generally have a cycle life of 2,000–5,000 cycles, while AGM batteries typically have a cycle life of 300–500 cycles. This makes lithium-ion batteries more cost-effective for long-term use cases, such as photovoltaic energy storage and off-grid home systems. Although lithium-ion batteries have a higher initial investment, their lower replacement frequency and higher energy efficiency (approximately 95%) often pay for themselves within 2–3 years.

In contrast, lithium-ion batteries are more sensitive to temperature management and perform slightly worse in low-temperature environments. They typically require a battery management system (BMS) to ensure their safety and efficiency.
 
In summary, if the application emphasizes lightweight, deep-cycle, and high energy efficiency, lithium-ion batteries are the preferred choice. In cost-sensitive systems with stringent safety and reliability requirements and cyclical use, AGM batteries still offer irreplaceable advantages. Users should carefully select a battery type based on project requirements, budget, space constraints, and frequency of use, to achieve the optimal balance between performance and cost.
