1. Update trends of domestic and foreign standards

At present, there is a trend of updating and improving the standards for lithium thionyl chloride batteries at home and abroad. For example, the IEC standards followed by Shenzhen Langsheng New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. involve a number of rigorous tests, including high and low temperature cycles, altitude simulation, free fall, vibration, heating, heavy object impact, extrusion, external short circuit, forced charging and forced discharge, etc. The judgment criteria are no explosion, no fire, no leakage, etc. At the national standard level, GB/T 10077, as a relevant basic standard, has clear requirements for the external dimensions of the battery, while GB 8897.4 is an important basis for safety requirements, which stipulates the safety performance indicators of the battery under various extreme conditions. In addition, industry standards such as Q/GDW 11179.7 stipulate detailed test methods for battery performance, safety and environmental adaptability, including open circuit voltage, load working voltage, battery capacity, forced discharge, battery AC internal resistance, pulse performance, high-altitude simulation, thermal shock, vibration, mechanical shock, external short circuit, thermal abuse, low temperature test and other test items to comprehensively evaluate the performance and safety of batteries.
 

2. Changes in CR14250 battery products under the new standard

With the update of the standard, CR14250 battery products face more stringent requirements in terms of test methods and performance indicators. Taking the high-altitude simulation test as an example, the IEC standard requires that the battery be stored for 6 hours at an absolute pressure of 11.6kPa and a temperature of 20±3°C, and the new standard may further refine the test conditions or increase the judgment threshold. In terms of vibration testing, the original standard stipulates that the amplitude is 0.8mm, the frequency change rate is 1Hz/min, the frequency range is 10Hz - 55Hz, the reciprocating vibration is 95±5min, and there are clear requirements for the vibration direction of batteries with different structures. The new standard may increase the complexity and duration of vibration. For the self-discharge rate of the battery, the new standard may require more accurate measurement methods and lower upper limits, prompting battery companies to improve production processes and raw material quality control to meet the performance stability requirements of batteries in long-term storage.
 

3. Enterprise response strategy

Enterprises should promptly understand and follow up on standard updates and adopt the following strategies:
  • Strengthen communication and cooperation with standardization organizations and industry associations, actively participate in standard formulation and revision, obtain standard update information in a timely manner, and ensure that enterprises have a certain voice and influence in the process of standard updates.
  • Pay close attention to the dynamics of authoritative certification bodies, such as UL, IEC, and the National Certification and Accreditation Administration. Participate in relevant training and seminars to accurately understand and grasp the specific requirements and implementation details of the new standard. At the same time, prepare for product testing and certification in advance to ensure that the product can successfully pass the certification of the new standard, thereby maintaining market access qualifications.
  • Continue to increase investment in R&D and optimize product design and production processes. According to the requirements of the new standards, improve the battery's electrode materials, electrolyte formula, and battery structure to enhance battery performance and safety. Strengthen the construction of the quality control system, strictly implement the provisions of the new standards from raw material procurement, production process monitoring to finished product inspection, and ensure the stability and consistency of product quality. Regularly train employees on new standards and new processes to improve their quality awareness and operational skills, thereby ensuring that the company's products can meet market access requirements and stand out from the competition.
